A Note about Precious Metal Prices and
Fair Trade Practices
All of the jewelry and focal pieces here on my site are one of a kind or limited edition pieces. The charms and the components are designed here and casted by an outside source. I fully believe in fair trade practices, meaning, any of the companies I work with pay their employees a fair wage with benefits. I do not patronize sweatshops. I believe in using my dollar to "vote" for businesses I want to work with or take a stand against businesses that are falling short of humane and moral practices. So when comparing prices, please check quality, understand what you are buying, and be informed of trade practices that may make their pricing look enticing on the surface .

Also, as many of you know, the metals market has been very volatile, which means the prices on my site, as well as other sites selling precious metals, will be fluctuating. I am making my best effort to keep prices as low as I can. To put this in perspective, the metals market has hit an all time high. Sterling silver for example, has more than doubled in price at various times throughout the year from its standing a year or so ago. Some in the jewelry industry feel this is a good thing. Sterling Silver will regain a more prominent position in the metals market and will be looked at as the valuable metal it really is.

But what does this mean for the designers and sellers of sterling silver jewelry. Well, we will be paying a bit more for any sterling silver items. Does this mean customers will buy less, since prices will be undoubtedly passed on to them? I don't think so. It turns out that educated customers are actually buying more, because they realize it is an investment of their dollars. The key word in this sentence, however is EDUCATED. This means when a customer is marveling over our precious metals jewelry, and see a slightly higher price, we need to jump in and educate them about what they are buying, the present pricing environment, and the investment they will be making in a handcrafted treasure.

Community
Supporting our community is very much a part of our goal, so here are some of the organizations that we support through our product fundraising programs and volunteerism.

Domestic Violence Organization of Lancaster County - I designed a fundraising pin/pendant called, "Out of the Shadows into the Light." The campaign was designed to build awareness of educational programs that help domestic violence victims restore the family unit.

Adopt-A-Minefield - A portion of When Peace Talks jewelry sales are donated to removing mines from war torn areas and building new roads and schools to help rebuild the community.

Safe & Civil Schools - In order to be part of the solution in combating violence in our schools, I volunteer at the Eastern Lancaster school district where my kids attend school and sit on the advisory team.

Cancer Organizations - I have been active in supporting cancer organizations through gifting jewelry for The American Cancer Society auctions and gift baskets. My daughter has donated 8 ponytails of hair to Locks of Love for financially disadvantaged children suffering from long-term medical hair loss. My husband supports the Carolina Hair Foundation that helps patients maintain their appearance throughout their cancer recovery with the latest cranial prosthetic technology, regardless of their insurability.

Salvation Army - Our family volunteers with their "Angel Tree" program to help provide gifts for families that are less fortunate. My daughter also gathers friends each year to make baby blankets to keep the infants warm during the winter months.

Central Penn Blood Bank - Someone needs blood every 2 seconds, whether it be an accident victim, newborn or cancer patient. I donate regularly, it only takes a short period of time and to date I have given 8 pints of blood.
