My Inspiration

My journey through life and my experiences inspire the images in my jewelry. The statements that I make may be from happy or sad events, observations of nature, an expression of emotional release, or an awakening of socially conscious thought. Here I will show you some of the inspirations I was able to capture in photographs. Many of them have become images in my jewelry or colors in my beads.
Orchids in Flight: During a dreary winter in 2004, my husband and I took a journey to Longwood Gardens in PA. Entering the indoor gardens from the bitter weather was like entering a summer haven. The atmosphere was warm and dewy, and the fragrance was sweet like a field of flowers. Orchids are my favorite of all flowers. The delicate petals of this orchid looked so light and airy as if they would take flight.
Here are more orchids from Longwood Gardens. I thought the saturated orange and fuschia colors were amazing.
These mountainous forms are the Badlands of South Dakota. My family of four drove for 2 weeks from Pennsylvania to this region. It was an overwhelming sight, from the height of the hills and the depth of the valleys to the colors of the earth, and miles and miles of landscape. I have never seen anything as massive and beautiful as this.
These flowers are from my mother's garden. I love the graceful lines and the form of the buds that have yet to open.
I envy many things about my mother, and one of them is her ability to nurture flowers and assist in creating something so beautiful. Gardening is not a talent I am blessed with, so I tend to capture flowers in my botanical jewelry and "Soul Companions Beads"
