Looks Like Candy to Me
by Carol Weidman

The Titanium I used has two little twists at each end that look just like a hard candy all twisted up in its wrapper. I made the octopus body and 4 legs to hold the candy first.

The legs were just tapered snakes that I used a texture
plate on and then used slip to adhere them to the body. That was fired
and it was all fitted, then 4 more legs were added as well as the
suckers, also using slip. The suckers were a combination of little
balls that I had stuck a toothpick into to mimic a real octopus sucker
and smaller ones were just syringe doohickeys. I soldered on a jump ring to connect to the bail, and then I used a magnetic tumbler to work harden the whole thing. Next, I very carefully set the Titanium candy and very carefully bent the
little legs around to hold it. Last, I just progressively dunked it in
head first into Lime sulfur to darken it with a patina, most at the top and then
progressively less as I went towards the legs.
